I appreciate your making amends for the disclosure and publicity about his seeking treatment. I commend him for having the courage to take that step. Certainly he knew that his treatment would be reported and scrutinized, but he took the step to pursue recovery in spite of that. I can’t imagine what it would be like for a celebrity to pursue recovery for SA; it’s impossible without God’s help for a person no one knows to recover from this addiction. For someone who has to know that others will report on everything he does and says, it has to really be overwhelming.
You have made good points in educating people about the addiction. Most people don’t believe in the addiction, and have no idea how many people “suffer” from it. No matter how much sex an addict has it never satisfies and simply destroys the individual inside and out, but people who don’t have the addiction think that the person is just out there screwing around and having a good time. Maybe this will be a start in overcoming those misconceptions.
All addicts and their families deserve our prayers.
